The Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro (MAM) is one of the most important cultural institutions in Brazil.

Designed by architect Affonso Reidy, it follows the direction of rationalist architecture.

The Museum is a private nonprofit organization, a result of cultural and economic context that Brazil has experienced in the second postwar period, with the diversification of cultural facilities in this country, the acquisition of a rich artistic heritage and assimilation of modern artistic trends.

The Museum currently has approximately 11 000 objects.
